Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, neighbors in the Hallquist extension celebrated a 2nd occasion of blessing for animal companions and their careproviders.
The blessing consists of a prayerful invocation of good health, long life, and peaceful relationships among all in the home.
Notice of future events of blessing will be posted here and on the premises of the Wildlife Habitat.
The concept of conducting an action at a distance, such as a prayer or blessing, is important at this Solstice Event site. Father Charles Uhlik responded on June 21, 2008 to an e-mail request from our daughter Christianna Anderton, who lives near Seattle on Camano Island with four dogs. He placed blessings on her two bloodhounds, Beauregard and Hanna, Molly, who is a cairn terrier, and Trueblue, an australian terrier.
The Web provides communication pathways between close friends and family. Nancy and I first worked with Craig Melvin during the summer of 1970. We spent 30 days studying atmospheric effects on aircraft flyover noise. Now Craig and Pegi live at Friday Harbor, Washington. Pegi cares remotely for her aging parents who live in California. Craig pilots boats for tourists and scientists who wish to see Orcas and other whales feeding and interacting at sea. On Fathers' Day June 15, 2008 Craig photographed a mother eagle and her chick nesting near the Melvin home. It is apparent from telephone and e-mail chats that Pegi and Craig were particularly touched by the service conducted by Father Charles Uhlik on June 21.
June 27, 2008 e-mail from David Bese: "The loss of a long time friend is much like a loss in one's family. With pets, we know the length of life and accept that one day they we be no more. Yet, it doesn't hurt any less. This last weekend, gifted me. His name is Duece as when he sits, a black mark on his hip forms a '2' .
Be well, my friend --

It is 3:00 a.m., June 30, 2008 -- a Billie Holiday-type of Tender Night or a wide-awake deep dark night of the soul. Onliners would need to search Jill Stefko and read her piece on The Shadow Self to comprehend. Two friends are 'with me', Wilbert Gelens in Dublin and Marty Petri, Sr. in Bangkok. You could search facebook to learn how Wilbert teaches me about his efforts to preserve bogs. Images he shows remind me of a summer (1962) I spent on the N. Slope of AK. And you could search ShakyCoastAviation, Inc. to meet Marty. He is teaching me how to be patient in exploiting this event tool. Read the article "The machine that read my mind" by Jeffrey Goldberg in the July 4-11 issue of The Week magazine. Maybe Wilbert and Marty share mirror neurons in their brains. At least their pets Coco and BabyMyDog do.
On June 30, 2008 Marty Petri and Glenn Bowie had a delightful Live Messenger chat. In order to be with us you must accept Jill Stefko's suite101 article on the Shamanic Shadow Self as required reading.
Marty mentioned that our chat had some characteristics that are like the April 2008 globalteer newsletter about the rescue of a Thai Macacque whose name is Ting Tong.
Discussions about Macaques and their mirror neurons are prominent these days. (it is now July 1, 2008). For example, visit the European Science Foundation (ESF) article "What Do Mirror Neurons Mean?"
On July 1, Wilbert wrote a note: " Hello Beta Tester Glenn, thank you for this mail about the ability to read minds.
Yes, I believe that certain people have the ability and that all of us sometimes have a situation where we get the impression that we might have been able to read the mind of somebody we feel very close to.
I also believe that people have the ability to connect to a "Universal Awareness", like: religious people believe that they have contact with God, Jesus, an Angel or another Holy Spirit and can communicate in this way while they are praying.
Cheers Wilbert"
Please: I, Glenn Bowie am just this site's author. My goal is to discuss the June 21, 2008 Blessing of the Animals. While I like to read text on the site at the above link, I will not join the subject organization nor support it any way financially.
We pay attention to people like Stacy Braslau-Schneck, a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Text on her site helps me understand how body language is used by our two dogs to "talk" to us. And Sasha is indeed an escape artist.
